Free up your approach to capturing the landscape around you and discover a more fluid and intuitive way of working with acrylic paint.

This online course is a chance to play and experiment with various ways of applying acrylic paint and creating effects with mediums. Over the course of three weeks and in the comfort of your own home, you will have the chance to try out pouring, glazing and layering techniques to create semi-abstract, ethereal paintings. Taking advantage of the quick-drying nature of acrylics, you will work across several pieces, building up multiple layers to achieve depth and luminosity.
Amy will help de-mystify how to harness these materials so you can create beautiful effects at home with your own work. Through clear demonstrations inspired by the landscape here in St Ives, she will guide you step by step before encouraging you to respond emotionally to the scenery around you. Learn to paint more intuitively through playful exploration of colour, texture, wet-on-wet techniques, and creative mark-making.
This live online course takes place over Zoom in a small, interactive group setting, allowing for personalised feedback and guidance from your tutor. The format is designed to accelerate your learning and help you take your painting to the next level. Spread across three weekly sessions of three hours each, the course allows generous time between classes to practise new techniques, reflect on ideas, and build on your progress week by week. Between the sessions, you’ll be invited to share your work on our online studio wall, allowing Amy to follow your progress and offer guidance where helpful. Your growth as a painter will deepen as you continue exploring your work independently between the sessions.
In preparation for the class, please have a few photos of the landscape that inspires you printed out to hand. A materials list will be available to view in our online learning platform after purchasing the course.
