A short art workshop is an accessible way to try a new medium, build confidence or add a creative experience to your visit. Held in small groups at our historic studios overlooking Porthmeor Beach, you can choose from a range of mediums and subjects, from acrylic painting lessons, mixed media art courses, oil painting or life drawing.
Our workshops are led by experienced Cornwall art tutors who are practising artists themselves. Each session combines demonstrations with practical making and individual guidance.

Our summer art workshops in St Ives usually run throughout July and August, offering a varied programme of three-hour and one-day sessions. Explore painting, drawing and mixed media, with professional tuition and all materials provided.
Summer workshops are especially popular with visitors looking to add a creative experience to their holiday. Our summer programme it typically launched in the Spring.
During the St Ives September Festival, we also run short art workshops in our studios – with a programme of 20 sessions taught by ten of our artist tutors. These workshops are a great opportunity to get a taster for our longer art courses in St Ives, or try a new medium or subject.

Our short art workshops last either three hours or a full day. Three-hour sessions usually run from 10am–1pm, while full-day classes run from 10am–4pm.
During the St Ives September Festival, workshops run from 9.30am–12.30pm and 1.30pm–4.30pm.
Do you offer short art workshops for kids?
Yes. We run summer art workshops for children aged 7–13 in St Ives. These two-and-a-half-hour sessions usually take place every Friday during the summer holidays and are taught by professional artists in our Porthmeor Studios, with all materials provided.
During term time, we also run monthly workshops for children at our studios in St Ives.
How much do short art classes cost?
Prices may change from year to year, but our three-hour workshops typically cost £60 and full-day classes cost £120. Our summer art workshops for children are usually £30.
