Porthmeor Art Collective - Making Cyanotypes
Print making - Materials included
For young artists aged 13-16, this group helps young people connect with their creativity and get to know contemporary art practices.
Come and enjoy the exciting process of cyanotype printing with artist Annabel Wilkes. This printmaking process crosses over nicely into camera-less photography. Cyanotyping is a 170 year old photographic printing process that produces prints in a distinctive blue.
You will use natural and found materials to make your own design which will be placed onto light sensitive paper and then exposed to make beautiful blue prints. Feel free to also bring objects or materials you’d like to try out. You will also have the opportunity to create your own concertina book to display your collection of cyanotype prints.
You will learn;
- How to make a design using positive/negative shapes and found materials
- The process of cyanotype printing
- How to make a concertina booklet to display your creations
- Observational drawing/painting to design your book covers.
We are happy to continue offering limited FREE Scholarship places for those on low income. Please contact Cat Lee Youth Arts Manager for a Scholarship application form to apply email@example.com.
