We celebrate women artists that inspire us at St Ives School of Painting. Our books on Eardley in our library here in Porthmeor Studios are well used. Tutors will often point students towards her work for inspiration. Her depiction of wild seas and expressive landscapes and her deep connection to place resonate with us here in Cornwall.
In this one hour recording, tutor Jill Eisele takes you through her pilgrimage to visit the studio of Eardley at Catterline on the east coast of Scotland. She explores how Eardley’s work has inspired her and shares approaches and techniques ranging from Eardley’s bold mark making to her insights into abstracting the landscape.
