Course details

Join us for a quick paced, colourful, and fun workshop that brings figure drawing to life!

Camilla Dixon youth

Led by artist and fashion illustrator Camilla Dixon, this session invites young artists to explore the human form in bold, expressive ways – using acrylic paint, colour blocking, and line.

Working with a clothed model in short, dynamic poses, participants will be encouraged to let go of perfection and respond quickly, capturing the movement and energy of the body through vibrant mark-making and inventive use of colour.

Camilla brings a fresh perspective from her background in both fine art and fashion, making figure drawing feel exciting and accessible for all. Young people will learn how to combine gestural line with striking areas of colour to create strong, stylised artworks.

This is about embracing freedom, building confidence, and discovering that drawing people can be expressive, full of life, and great fun!

For children aged 7-10, this is a Kids Art Club like no other, where children get to work on easels and use the same high quality art materials as our adult courses. They are taught by experienced artist tutors and start to take their first steps as Young Artists.

SCHOLARSHIPS: Thanks to generous support from our fee paying families and St Ives Rotary, we are able to offer up to 4 scholarship places per session awarded on a need basis. If you are on a low income please contact [email protected] for an application form to apply for a free scholarship place.

FUNDRAISING: If you are able to support a free place for another child, we would be hugely grateful if you would add a donation to your booking at checkout.

I find tutoring to be a constantly evolving project. It supports my creative work as it requires that I not only understand my processes but can apply them in a way that is useful to other people in their quest for creative flow. Harnessing a fluid and responsive working method, can address all sorts of practical or emotional obstacles that students face. It can be quite literally life-changing.

Safeguarding

At St Ives School of Painting we recognise our moral and statutory responsibility to safeguard and promote the welfare of children.

Our Trustees, staff and volunteers share this commitment. All our tutors are DBS checked, see our Safeguarding Policy under our Quick Links in the footer.
