Join us for this two-hour online figure class inspired by artist Paula Rego. Broadcast from our studio in St Ives with a clothed model, join in at home with guided exercises.

One of Europe’s most important contemporary figurative artists, Paula Rego would paint ‘stories’; depicting characters in a variety of roles and scenarios. Often disquieting, Rego’s paintings frequently showed women in psychologically charged dramas and narratives.
In this special edition of Figure, we recreate the dynamic scenes of some of Rego’s paintings in our Porthmeor Studios. Working from a clothed model, artist Gary Long demonstrates how Rego created her inspiring images. Working in pencil, pastel and gouache, see how to situate a figure in a scene or narrative. Learn how to compose your own successful Rego-inspired image.
These sessions are designed to inspire, instruct and surprise. Suitable for any level of experience.
