Course details

Immerse yourself in a world of instinct with this explorative online class, looking at ways to coax an intuitive painting to it’s natural conclusion.

Have you come to an impasse with your painting? Do you feel afraid to go back in because you are protecting elements you like from the beginning or, perhaps you dislike your first layer/marks so much, you are ready to dismiss the whole project? Delve into this fascinating process and learn how to overcome creative blocks, reawakening your relationship with the work. Allow yourself to move forward with a fresh perspective and be guided towards a successful finished piece.

Join Caroline in the studio, as she reflects on the early and mid-stages of her painting. Observing candid footage of herself fully immersed working into a piece, she introspectively narrates the scenes offering insight into her conscious and subconscious processes. Follow along with warm up exercises demonstrated on smaller paintings looking at masking, compositional elements including negative space, colour chaos, neutral-areas, and focal points – taking inspiration from artists such as Jackson Pollock and Joan Mitchell amongst others.

Observe and absorb as Caroline goes back to the large painting she began in her first webinar and brings it to resolution. Focusing on accents and final marks and the crucial question of “when to stop?”, she fearlessly shares this exclusive moment allowing the process to inform the result.

The abstract concept of the inner-landscape juxtaposed with robust methodology and practical tips, make this session a unique catalyst for your personal intuitive journey.

View Caroline’s Work

As a large-scale intuitive painter, I am often greeted with comments of admiration for the confidence to approach a large canvas, and being free enough to create at that scale. There is huge joy in creating immersive work and I hope I can pass on some of my experiences and knowledge I have gained to others and inspire more confidence in trusting your intuitions.
