Course details
Join us for this experimental, abstract webinar inspired by the Cornish landscape with new tutor, Natalie Day.

Enjoy creating experimental and abstract paintings inspired by the unique Cornish landscape. See how the shapes, forms and colour palette of this unique place can help you find new ways in to capturing your own immediate environment. Lanyon famously said of the Cornish landscape where he lives and worked:
“It is impossible for me to make a painting which has no reference to the powerful environment in which I live,”
Artist, Natalie Day, encourages you to take a bolder and less inhibited approach to image-making. Trusting the process and finding fun and playful ways to express your ideas and capture the feeling of a place, this webinar is ideal if you are looking to loosen your approach to painting.
Starting with some short, experimental approaches, see how these can be combined and incorporated to create a larger work inspired by Lanyon’s multi-viewpoint approaches to painting. You will work in a variety of media and learn how a landscape can be captured through observation, memory and feeling. Most of all, Natalie demonstrates that there is no one ‘correct’ way of working with a landscape and encourages a freer way of working.
Natalie will guide you, recorded from our historic studios in St Ives, but you can join us wherever you are in the world.
