Course details
This dynamic workshop with Ellie Williams introduces young artists to ink blot mono-printing through a process inspired by Andy Warhol.

Participants will create layered, abstract backgrounds using paint, shape and texture, drawing on bold, summery visual influences. They’ll also develop compositions using a combination of found imagery and their own drawings.
Using dip pens, fine brushes and ink, students will explore the “trace and blot” technique with hinged tracing paper – experimenting with line, repetition and variation to produce a series of expressive mono-prints.
This workshop is ideal for those interested in graphic image-making, print processes and developing a more experimental approach to composition.
For young artists aged 11-16, this group helps young people connect with their creativity and get to know contemporary art practices.

Meet Your Tutor

Ellie Williams
Ellie is an artist and designer based in Cornwall, her work spans disciplines including drawing, painting, printmaking and design for performance, installations, film & events.
She studied art and design at Wimbledon School of Art and went on to graduate with a BA Hons in Fine Art from Falmouth University.
“The work I make, and projects I’m most drawn to reflect both my love of the natural world and explorations of how we experience place and landscape in ways beyond simply the physical. When painting, I use various medias on canvas and paper alongside printmaking – often combining techniques to develop a space where memories and imagination collide, creating imagery through playful and intuitive experimentation.”
