Course details

Feeling frustrated that your paintings aren’t quite working and you don’t know why? Artist Liz Hough helps you take landscape to the next level; creating space, depth and movement.

Build your confidence and take your mixed media landscape painting to the next level. Improve your compositions, create layers, understand pictorial planes and create the illusion of space and movement. Learn practical skills and hone your artistic eye so you can breath new life into your paintings. Artist such as John Piper, Barbara Rae, Ivon Hitchens and Howard Hodgkin will set the context. Through demonstrations, group exercises as well as one to ones with the tutor you will understand better what you want to convey about a place and landscape. Over the five days, discover the approach unique to you. This is an ideal next step if you have been on a mixed media course before and want to deepen and develop your practice. Includes an untutored self study day.

Taught by

Liz Hough’s paintings offer a vivid exploration of seasonal moments, drawing the viewer into intimate narratives of place and memory. Each painting is carefully selected to convey time spent in both summer and winter, where the artist’s use of colour and mixed media brings life to the black-and-white sketches she creates en plein air.

What our students say
