Our 2027 Courses Have Arrived
Last week, we launched our 2027 programme, with more than 80 courses from 28 different artists now available to book. And there is still more to come.
Alongside familiar favourites, you’ll find brand-new courses from David Webb and Kieran Stiles. We’re also delighted to welcome Hester Berry as a new tutor.
More tutors and courses will be announced over the coming weeks, so keep an eye out.
Online Art Club is Back
Guided by Camilla Dixon and Iona Sanders, learn new exercises and techniques that will help you approach drawing and painting the figure with greater confidence.
This is a chance to have fun, forget about getting it ‘right’, and just respond to what you see.
Join us live every Wednesday in October, 6-7.30pm – everyone’s welcome!
The Turning Point: Now available to watch
The Turning Point for St Ives School of Painting is a new short film exploring a pivotal period in the School’s history. Through archive material and the memories of those who were there, it tells the story of how the School survived an uncertain chapter, renewed its purpose and laid the foundations for the creative community it is today.

Exhibitions
Unfamiliar Ground | 10-16 October
Salthouse Gallery, St Ives
Next up are 2019/20 alumni Maggie Cochran, Arlene Searle and Alicia Pavaro, who are coming together for a new exhibition; Unfamiliar Ground.
Unfamiliar Ground explores the relationship with place, and what happens when we stop looking at a landscape and start experiencing it.
There will also be a programme of events happening throughout the week
This Month’s Watch
Join us as we visit Neil Canning in his woodland studio, where he shares his process for painting large canvases and how nature and his surroundings inspire his work.
Neil is returning to the studios in 2027, with a brand new course:
29-31 Jan + 2-4 Aug: The Feeling of Landscape
24-26 May + 15-17 Oct: Abstracting Place
