Art Club Term Three: That’s a Wrap
Throughout June, Art Club members have been exploring the magical world of landscapes.
Together, they’ve considered the emotional connections we have with the places around us, taking inspiration from wherever they are – urban or rural, a view from the window, an imagined landscape or a place held in memory.
Through note-taking, mark-making and quick sketching, participants discovered new ways to develop a personal response to place.
Summer Workshops Begin
We’re counting down the days until our summer workshops begin.
From 3-hour sessions to one-day courses, there’s plenty to explore across mixed media, oils, drawing and ink.
Places on our July courses are selling quickly, but there are still opportunities to join artists including Emma McClure, Ella Carty, Camilla Dixon and Liz Hough.
Coming Soon: Painting Clouds
Learn how to paint clouds and capture the shifting drama, light and atmosphere of the sky in our brand-new online course with landscape and seascape artist, Tom Rickman.
Register your interest below so you’ll be the first to know when the course goes live!
Exhibitions
Porthmeor Programme | Crypt Gallery
11 – July 17
We’re delighted to share that a group of alumni from our 2025 yearlong development course, the Porthmeor Programme, will be exhibiting at the Crypt Gallery in St Ives next month.
The group of nine developed their practices alongside one another over the course of the year, forming a close creative bond that has continued beyond the programme. They have since joined our brand-new, exclusive Porthmeor Programme Masters course – and will now be exhibiting together for the first time.
Congratulations to everyone involved!
This Month’s Watch
In our latest YouTube film, we visit artist Neil Canning in his studio, a space designed to reflect the surrounding landscape and the atmosphere that continues to shape his work.
Neil shares more about his practice, his relationship with place, and how the studio environment supports his process.

In the next edition of our Meet the Team series is Laura, another member of our fantastic Studio Team. Laura first became familiar with the School after enrolling on our Porthmeor Programme a few years ago.
Since then, she’s become an integral part of life at the School, working alongside Meg and our Studio Technicians, as well as regularly tutoring on our Youth Programme.
