Art Club Collective: Term Three
Welcome to the third edition of The Art Club Collective – a space where we gather together the stories, moments, and artwork that emerge from inside Art Club each month.
At the end of every term, we will take a step back and look at what’s been created – the small wins, the breakthroughs, the routines that begin to form, and the joy that comes from making time to paint.
Missed any of our Art Club sessions? You can catch up on all of them here.
Enjoy!
“Finally, simplifying landscapes
makes sense!”
During the third term of Art Club, participants looked at landscape – exploring the emotional connections we have with the places around us. Through note-taking, mark-making and quick sketching, participants found new ways to develop a personal response to place.
This collection below celebrates the work created along the way. Each piece reflects experimentation, growth, and the courage to keep showing up each week. Congratulations to everyone who joined!

I found the exercise very freeing – beginning with a quick sketch, then making three painted responses: calm, energetic, and dramatic. It was a lovely way to think about how a painting can shift its whole mood through line, colour and brushwork.

Painting Together, Miles Apart
One of our members, Jill, recently shared her experience with us, and her words perfectly capture what Art Club is all about.
“It has really reaffirmed all I love doing with paint. Colour, freedom, play, no rules – I am in.”
Despite being on opposite sides of the world, she and her daughter found a way to paint together:
“We call on WhatsApp, both make our cuppas, press play together… it has been a lot of fun.”
“It has been so reassuring knowing that there is someone over the other side of the world having fun with colour.”
It’s a reminder that creativity doesn’t have to be solitary. When you’re able to share it with others – no matter where you are, and especially with those you love – it can open up a whole new sense of freedom, exploration, and, most importantly, pure enjoyment.
“It has been so refreshing, I would be yelling out ‘Yesssss!’ at the screen.”

In the name of art, it’s important to document everything. And the landscape is really exciting.

April Art Club: Interiors
In our second term of art club we explored interiors, documenting the everyday as our starting point, moving from quick sketching and quick paintings to looking in more depth at pattern, layering and embellishing. Hear more from artist tutor, Iona Sanders.
