The Salt Path film in cinemas now
Discover The Salt Path, a poignant adaptation of Raynor Winn’s bestselling memoir. The film chronicles the transformative 630-mile trek along the South West Coast Path undertaken by Raynor and her husband, Moth, after losing their home and grappling with a terminal illness diagnosis.
Directed by acclaimed theatre director Marianne Elliott and scripted by Rebecca Lenkiewicz, The Salt Path stars Gillian Anderson as Raynor and Jason Isaacs as Moth. ‘Their performances have been lauded for their authenticity and emotional depth, capturing the couple’s physical and emotional journey with subtlety and grace.’ (Gazettely)
The narrative delves into the couple’s decision to walk the South West Coast Path, from Minehead to Poole, armed with only a tent and minimal supplies. This journey becomes a testament to their resilience, love, and the healing power of nature.
Beyond its cinematic achievements, The Salt Path sheds light on Corticobasal Degeneration (CBD), the rare neurological condition affecting Moth. Director Marianne Elliott collaborated with the PSP Association to ensure an accurate portrayal of the disease, emphasising the film’s commitment to raising awareness about lesser-known health conditions.
Raynor Winn, now an ambassador for the South West Coast Path charity, continues to advocate for the preservation and accessibility of the trail, underscoring the path’s significance as a source of solace and transformation.
