Course details
A vibrant half-day workshop exploring colour, composition and expressive still-life painting, inspired by modern artists and focused on building confidence and creative freedom.

If you are looking for a creative, uplifting morning that lets you loosen up, explore colour with freedom and enjoy the process of making art, this workshop is the perfect place to begin.
Celebrating bold colour, playful observation and expressive mark-making, this workshop invites you to explore a fresh, contemporary approach to still life. We’ll draw inspiration from artists who embraced colour with passion and individuality — from the vibrant intensity of the Fauves, such as Henri Matisse and André Derain, to the luminous palettes of Post-Impressionists like Bonnard and Van Gogh.
You’ll learn how to build a strong composition, experiment with colour mixing and tonal relationships, and discover how these modern and contemporary artists use colour to evoke light, depth and emotion.
Through fun, energetic exercises and friendly guidance, you’ll create your own vibrant still-life studies using acrylics and oil pastel — gaining confidence with materials and finding a more intuitive, joyful way of painting.
