Kimmy Hussey
Having attended the painting school myself, I can honestly say it was the catalyst that lit a fire inside me to become a professional painter and make it into a full-time practice with the sky being the limit! I am now delighted to be able to give something back.

British contemporary painter Kimmy Hussey works from her studio above the Penwith Gallery in St Ives, creating paintings that explore the boundaries between observation and imagination. Her practice encompasses dreamlike garden abstracts, vivid landscapes, and naïve still lifes, unified by a bold use of colour and strong form.
Hussey’s work reflects a distinctly colourist approach, translating emotion and atmosphere into tonally layered, luminous compositions that evoke both intimacy and expansiveness.
Educated at Leeds College of Art and the University of the Arts London, she continues to build upon the rich artistic heritage of Cornwall, contributing a fresh, contemporary voice to it’s ongoing narrative of landscape and abstraction.
“I teach because I enjoy the collaboration and melting pot of ideas that are discussed in workshops and classes, and the joy and excitement it can produce in every student, the connections and the healing and happiness it brings”.
