Course details
Capture the atmosphere and energy of the Cornish coast in a loose, expressive way. With inspiration from Peter Lanyon, the focus is on interpretation rather than realism.

Begin around Porthmeor Beach and the surrounding headland, where the shifting rhythms of sea, sky and shoreline offer a rich starting point for exploration. Through a series of quick, intuitive sketches, you’ll capture fleeting impressions of movement, atmosphere and light.
Back in the studio, these drawings will become the starting point for an abstract painting. Taking inspiration from the work of Peter Lanyon, you’ll explore expressive mark-making and layered acrylic techniques to build a dynamic composition that is a personal response to the energy and atmosphere of the Cornish coast.
Suitable for all abilities, this workshop focuses on creativity and a sense of place rather than realism, leaving you with fresh ideas and renewed confidence in your painting.
Please note: This is an adult workshop, however we would welcome children aged 14 or over, if accompanied by a paying adult. This is the case as we cannot guarantee that all our tutors have been DBS checked.
