Do you like making cyanotype photograms, but would like to print a photo? Then this workshop is for you.
Bringing cyanotype printing into the digital age, Ruth Purdy will show you how to create negatives from digital images and make cyanotype prints from them.
In the first part of the process, you will focus on photographic challenges using your phone or an tablet, from these create your own negatives using an app. Learn about the chemicals needed to make cyanotype prints and paint light sensitive emulsion on to paper ready for the following session.
Please note – ideally you will attend both sessions.
For young artists aged 11-16, this group helps young people connect with their creativity and get to know contemporary art practices.

What to Bring
Our studios are fully equipped and we provide you with all the art materials you need for your workshop so just bring yourself and lots of enthusiasm!
The class will be held in the ground floor studio at the School of Painting.
Timings & Breaks
The workshops start at 2pm and finish at 4pm. We will have a comfort break in the middle and provide squash or water for the children.
Young people will need to be aware of social distancing and sanitise regularly.

Ruth Purdy
Ruth Purdy is the Executive Director of Make it Better (Mitber) CIC. She believes that art has the power to change the world and set up Mitber to increase engagement with creativity.
She studied a Fine Art BA Hons and a PGCE in Birmingham, followed by an MA in Photography at Falmouth. Before this she worked in further education and in schools delivering arts education to a wide variety of neurotypical and neurodiverse learners; working closely with speech, language and occupational therapists.
She is always excited to see the unique way individuals respond to and communicate through creative processes. For over ten years she has worked in local communities around Cornwall, demonstrating how regular contact with fun creative activities can improve people lives.
