Art Club Collective: Term One
Welcome to the first edition of The Art Club Collective – a space where we gather together the stories, moments, and artwork that emerge from inside Art Club each month.
At the end of every term, we will take a step back and look at what’s been created – not just on ours canvases, but behind the scenes too. The small wins, the breakthroughs, the routines that begin to form, and the joy that comes from simply making time to paint.
Inside each volume, you’ll find a mix of snippets from our sessions, words from our Art Club members and a glimpse into the work being created along the way. Enjoy!
“Painting with Joy and Abandon”
Across the first term of our Online Art Club, members explored still life through both abstract and organic approaches – loosening their mark-making, rethinking composition, and building the confidence to create consistently.
This collection celebrates the work created along the way. Each piece reflects experimentation, growth, and the courage to keep showing up each week. Congratulations to everyone who joined!
It’s brought out in my painting exactly what I’ve always wanted – this is how I’ve wanted to paint but I didn’t have the courage, as it didn’t seem ‘legitimate’. It’s joy. It’s play. And it’s me!

Painting Together, Miles Apart
One of our members, Jill, recently shared her experience with us, and her words perfectly capture what Art Club is all about.
“It has really reaffirmed all I love doing with paint. Colour, freedom, play, no rules – I am in.”
Despite being on opposite sides of the world, she and her daughter found a way to paint together:
“We call on WhatsApp, both make our cuppas, press play together… it has been a lot of fun.”
“It has been so reassuring knowing that there is someone over the other side of the world having fun with colour.”
It’s a reminder that creativity doesn’t have to be solitary. When you’re able to share it with others – no matter where you are, and especially with those you love – it can open up a whole new sense of freedom, exploration, and, most importantly, pure enjoyment.
“It has been so refreshing, I would be yelling out ‘Yesssss!’ at the screen.”

Nobody can do your art like you can, because only you can do your thing. That authenticity, that individuality, is the most important thing that there is in art.

April Art Club: Interiors
In our second term of art club we will explore interiors, documenting the everyday as our starting point, moving from quick sketching and quick paintings to looking in more depth at pattern, layering and embellishing. Hear more from artist tutor, Iona Sanders.
