Louise Rainbow
Teaching is one of the most rewarding aspects of my creative life. I enjoy helping people discover possibilities in their own work that they may not yet see themselves. Seeing students gain confidence, become more experimental and develop an authentic artistic voice is enormously satisfying.
Louise is a practising and exhibiting artist working across painting, printmaking and ceramics. Her work explores colour, landscape, memory and observation through expressive mark-making and contemporary painting approaches. Her practice is rooted in curiosity, material exploration and experimentation, values that inform both her artwork and teaching.
Alongside Louise’s studio practice, she has taught painting, drawing and creative practice at West Dean College, the Royal College of Art, South Devon College and Esalen Institute, as well as developing artist-led programmes for Dartington Trust.
Her work gained national recognition when she was selected for the Hunting Prize at the Royal College of Art in 2020. She has since exhibited widely, including a solo exhibition at Gallery Dartington in 2022 and at Trenemeheere Gallery in 2023.
