Iโm just about to return this wonderful painting by marionelizabethtaylor titled, โLight Fantasticโ that has generously been on loan with the No 6 Gallery : Oriel 6 since a serendipitous meeting whilst exhibiting some of my work in St Ives, Cornwall. Marion Taylor is painter who has a workshop situated in the iconic Porthmeor Studioโs porthmeorstudios and has a close connection to with stivespainting. This painting is one of 24 compositions inspired by Leonard Cohenโs lyrics โThatโs How the Light Gets Inโ (extracted from the song called โAnthemโ) It has been wonderful to hear anecdotes from visitors to Llantwit Major that are familiar with Marion Taylorโs art practice. As part of the St Ives festival this month, Marion has open studios where the public can view her collection in situ. I would definitely recommend calling in if youโre in the St Ives locality. Wonderful drawing by Ben Nicholson of boats which l guess you could say launched the whole St Ives imagery iconography and industry for artists still perpetuating the same derivative work to this day!

๐ฟI recently returned from a wonderful abstract ocean painting course stivespainting school with Jill Eisele. If you know my work youโll know St Ives has had a very special place in my heart for a long time and has been a regular inspiration for its stories, flora and fauna and the unique lighting and ocean scenes. This course was so different to what I do in the studio which was very freeing and Iโm excited to take what I learned and bring it into my practice. Continued in next postโฆ
