The subject of Alchemy has been described as many things, including ‘the art of transformation’. This course is for artists working in any medium who wish to transform aspects of their creative practice.

We will explore some of the symbols, images, ideas, processes and operations found in Alchemy, and relate them to the creative process though practical exercises, guided visualisations and group discussions.

In this course you begin your alchemical and creative journey by working through the seven alchemical operations as they align with aspects of creative practice.

We may consider the work of the following artists if you would like to have a look in advance: Hilma af Klint , Hannah Höch, Lorna Simpson, Ithell Colquhoun.
