Porthmeor Art Collective - Monoprinting

Mixed Media - Materials included

For young artists aged 11-16, this group helps young people connect with their creativity and get to know contemporary art practices.

Monoprinting Annabel wilkes

Explore the versatile medium of monoprint with local printmaker Annabel Wilkes. Using re-found materials, design a composition inspired by the Cornish landscape. By tearing, cutting and arranging materials onto a base plate you will have the opportunity to print your design in different coastal colours by using printing inks. Annabel will then guide you to experiment with further layers of colour, allowing you to create visually exciting and unique prints to take home.

We are happy to continue offering limited FREE Scholarship places for those on low income. Please contact Cat Lee Youth Arts Manager for a Scholarship application form to apply  cat@schoolofpainting.co.uk

Annabel Wilkes

Annabel runs cyanotype and printmaking workshops for adults and young people from her studio in Newmill, near Penzance. She also has run community art workshops in various venues in and around St Ives including at Tate St Ives and St Ives Community Orchard. Annabel has fifteen years of experience working in schools and currently offers print workshops to school groups at the Porthmeor Print Workshop.

Her practice involves the investigation of natural forms, using the medium of collagraph, monoprint and cyanotype. She chooses Cornish flora which is found or decayed to produce beautiful botanical prints. She concentrates on the intricacy of chosen forms and structures, overlaying with a variety of colours to produce depth and vibrancy. Annabel attempts to instil a sense of calm in her work through the use of muted, natural tones.
