Coronavirus Statement

We have decided to take a careful and considered approach to reopening the School. We will run our first course on 24 August, with measures in place to make this as safe as possible for students, staff and tutors.

Up to the end of September we will run only one course a week with limited numbers so there will be plenty of work space area for each student. For the rest of the year we have reduced the number of students on a course in both our studios. We are spending the next month designing features such as Perspex screens on some tables to enable tutors to interact safely with students. We are also removing furniture and equipment in the studios to make them more spacious. There will be a very thorough cleaning regime every day and between new groups arriving. We are considering whether to ask everyone while in the studios to wear masks and we will confirm details of this soon. We have cancelled all short workshop activity including life drawing for the foreseeable future and instead we are exploring delivering alternatives with a brand new online programme.

We are committed to being responsive and vigilant. We will continue to regularly monitor advice from Public Health England and the UK government and take the necessary action to help us all stay safe.

Thank you for all your support over the last few months. We have had so many kind messages and many of you have helped us with donations or through rescheduling your courses with us where you can. We are looking forward to welcoming you back. We have missed you all and the studios are missing the buzz of your creative energy.

And if you can’t make it down to us in St Ives I hope you can join us through our brand new online programme. This includes live webinars, short and longer courses delivered by our amazing team of tutors straight to your home wherever you might be in the world.
